When I went on the quest for an organization and general contractor to build my custom home I must admit I was terrified and overwhelmed. I interviewed a couple GCs and I did not feel that they had my interests at heart. A friend whom had recently completed the construction of a custom home in Oakville recommended Lucas from Gencorp Homes. I was hesitant, at first. My concerns were two fold. My project was in Forest Hill, midtown Toronto and the project was very high end. I debated using someone local or using the recommendation of Gencorp from my friend. I ultimately went with my friends recommendation who said ” you will not regret it”.

Most people hate construction, most marriages barley survive it. I can honestly say this was the most positive experience with construction and home building I have ever had. From the moment I met Lucas, I felt a sense of calm. He was knowledgeable and professional. He took the time to listen to my concerns, my OCD and my attention to detail issues. I thought for sure I would scare him away. I did not. He was confident and efficient. His trades and subtrades were exceptional. Arrived when he said they would. Completed their portion of work when they were supposed to and were polite and courteous. Lucas himself was onsite everyday of construction at 7am. Wow! We have built custom before and at times we did not see the GC for days. Lucas did not miss 1 day. He made sure that the trades knew exactly what we wanted and that it was executed to our absolute specifications.

At times, (probably too many to count) I would change direction or add something to the the project. Lucas was extremely accommodating and would pivot immediately to forge a new path to the desired result. I felt so confident in Lucas I left the country for a month. On my return Gencorp was further ahead than I had anticipated. We encountered many obstacles in this project. None of which were related to Gencorp . Our selected kitchen manufacturer had several delays, Gencorp worked around the kitchen area to keep the project moving. In hindsight I should have used Gencorps kitchen person. Despite a few hiccups here and there, again not related to Gencorp, the project came in ahead of schedule and under budget. YES , UNDER BUDGET! I actually have to repeat that because this is unheard of. Lucas is extremely ethical and honest. A characteristic in his personality I greatly admire. I love my new house. I love that he has an OCD eye even sharper than mine. I love how he handled the little things that he knew would drive me crazy. He is a true gem and a godsend to find. I would use him again in a heart beat and told him when I am ready to construct my final home, he will be hired no questions asked. I highly recommend Lucas and would welcome a walk thru my home if someone is considering using him for their project.

All the trades used were great to deal with and very experienced.
